MGM+'s historical drama is nearing the end of the first season, with episode 8 finding Arthur starting to reap both the benefits and consequences of his actions. By the end of Winter King episode 7, Arthur had broken his engagement and run away with his new love, risking the wrath of Ceinwyn's father King Gorfydd (Aneirin Hughes) in the process. That's because her best friend happened to be Guinevere (Jordan Alexandra), whom Arthur fell instantly in love with.
Unfortunately, his plan to unite the divided kingdoms of Britain by marrying Ceinwyn (Emily John) of Powys came undone. It might be a job he never really wanted, but Arthur (Iain De Caestecker) is showing a natural knack for being a leader. The Winter King episode 8 proves to Arthur that it's not easy being the unofficial king. Morgan goes to Powys to negotiate peace but instead witnesses Gorfydd executing Bishop Bedwin, escalating tensions between the kingdoms. The clash between Pagans and Christians threatens his plans for unity even further.
Arthur's plan to unite the divided kingdoms of Britain by marrying Ceinwyn is derailed when he falls in love with Guinevere instead.
